Health care, education, our environment and science go hand-in-hand, so it’s important we protect and promote the wellbeing of our planet Earth in our day-to-day life and government decisions! So in recognition of Earth Day, we invite SEIU-West members, friends and families to join in the March for Science Saskatoon on Earth Day – April 22 and the Peoples’ Climate March on April 29 in Regina!
Marches for Science are happening in close to 500 communities around the world! Each satellite march is organized independently, but they all unite under shared principles and goals. The March for Science champions robustly funded and publicly communicated science as a pillar of human freedom and prosperity. Science protects the health of our communities, the safety of our families, the education of our children, the foundation of our economy and jobs, and the future we all want to live in and preserve for coming generations. The Peoples Climate March is also an international movement that was initially launched in 2014 on the eve of the UN Climate Summit. This year marches around the world are demanding better for our future generations and our planet – the goal of the march is to pressure decision-makers to ensure we rapidly reduce greenhouse gas and toxic pollutions in order to successfully combat climate change and improve public health. The march also calls for a just transition for communities and workers who are negatively impacted by the shift to a sustainable energy future. We hope SEIU-West members and their networks will join together to ensure the wellbeing of our planet and join one or both of these important events! See you on the streets in Saskatoon and Regina over the coming days!
