A member enhanced their 8 hour shift to a 12 hour shift. When the employer was unable to replace the vacant 8 hour shift they called the member and took away the 12 hour shift, putting the member back into the original 8 hour shift – this was all done outside of the 48 hour period provided for correcting errors and inside the posted and confirmed period. SEIU-West grieved this violation of our collective agreement, and the employer argued this was a practice they always did and that made it ok. We asked for the appropriate documentation to prove the collective agreement had in fact been violated. The documentation proved there was a violation and the employer agreed to pay the member double time for the 8 hour shift she had worked. Your union fights for your rights!
