The March for Science Saskatoon is being organized by March for Science Saskatoon, Climate Justice Saskatoon, Women’s March Saskatoon, Cafe Scientifique and Saskatoon Unitarians.

The March for Science Saskatoon will begin at 1.30pm, in Victoria Park. We will begin with a short rally hearing words from a group of eminent speakers and then proceed on the march (we will post a route map in due course). On our return to Victoria Park please join our Eco-Science fair, to celebrate the world of science here in Saskatoon. There will be fun activities for people all ages. Please join and invite others to the Facebook event!

And to join in the celebration, we encourage you to wear costumes! These could be anything from a space suit to a lab coat! Children are encouraged to bring their favourite stuffed animals for Earth Day!

If you would rather, you could simply wear the colour white to demonstrate your solidarity. We encourage you to make signs or banners and bring these along to the march. Please consider taking a photo of yourself in your costume or with your sign and sharing this here on our Facebook page or on Twitter and use the hashtag #marchforscienceyxe

The March for Science champions robustly funded and publicly communicated science as a pillar of human freedom and prosperity. We unite as a diverse, nonpartisan group to call for science that upholds the common good and for political leaders and policy makers to enact evidence based policies in the public interest. Science protects the health of our communities, the safety of our families, the education for our children, the foundation of our economy and jobs, and the future we all want to live in and preserve for coming generations.

We are scientists and science enthusiasts. We come from all races, all religions, all gender identities, all sexual orientations, all socioeconomic backgrounds, all political perspectives, and all nationalities. Our diversity is our greatest strength: a wealth of opinions, perspectives, and ideas is critical for the scientific process. What unites us is a love of science, and an insatiable curiosity. We all recognize that science is everywhere and affects everyone.
