The Saskatoon & District Labour Council (SDLC) is proud to host the 21st Annual Labour Day BBQ!
Please join us as we celebrate the achievements of working people and recognize the contributions unions make to the well-being of our communities on Monday, September 2, 2019 at Victoria Park (by Riversdale Pool) from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm
There will be food, entertainment, children’s activities, and lots of fun! Everyone is welcome, and it's free-of-charge!
Labour Day is about recognizing the contributions of workers and unions to the well-being of our communities and country. The Labour Council organizes the BBQ to celebrate community spirit and to renew our commitment to improving and strengthening the way of life for all people. In 2018, 2000 hamburgers and 1500 hotdogs were cooked and served; 2000 bananas and 2000 juice boxes were handed out. It is an event the community enjoys and looks forward to. Hundreds of people attended and enjoyed last year’s event.
Volunteers are vital to the success of this event. Over 50 volunteers registered and assisted us in 2018. Individuals are needed to assist with:
• Set up (please arrive at the park at 10:30 a.m.)
• Cooking hamburgers and hotdogs
• Serving food and drinks
• Clean up
In the past, volunteers have helped for various lengths of time – from 30 minutes to the entire duration – whatever amount of time you are able to give. If you are able to help out, please register that day at the Volunteer Registration table which will be located behind the BBQ area. The Labour/United Way roll-up banner will be placed beside the table. Once you register, you will be put to work!
