The Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation (the STF) has been bargaining with the Government and Trustee bargaining committee. They have reached an impasse and are unable to make any progress. The STF has notified their members that they will be holding a vote on sanctions against their employer.
SEIU-West is looking to train and support a member who is interested in participating in the Joint Job Evaluation Maintenance Committee as an alternate. We want to broaden the skill set of our member leaders and activists and are posting for this position.
Re: Parties' Closing Arguments Regarding the SEIU-West Successorship Application
On September 29, the final arguments from SEIU-West, the Saskatchewan Health Authority (the SHA), CUPE and SGEU were heard by the Saskatchewan Labour Relations Board (SLRB) on SEIU-West’s successorship application to continue to represent the members of SEIU-West at the Extendicare facilities in Moose Jaw, Saskatoon, and the three Extendicare facilities in Regina.
Labour Day is a day for us to pause and celebrate the contributions of working people to our society. Not only for those who are in a trade union, but for every worker.

Interested members can apply by completing this application form.

Saskatoon—Supporters of a strong public healthcare system joined SEIU-West members at the Saskatoon Cabinet Office to highlight the need for government investment in the patients, clients, and residents and the people who care for them in this province.
In our most recent update, we had identified to our SEIU-West members that vacation banks, time in lieu banks and stat/pro-stat banks would be posted in your workplaces by the end of March. Unfortunately, it was only recently brought to our attention that this did not happen
The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) and SEIU-West have resolved the outstanding grievances filed in response to the Proof of Vaccination/Monitored Testing Program.
SEIU-West's Worker Safety Committee is sponsoring up to eight (8) members to attend the Saskatchewan Federation of Labour Occupational Health and Safety Conference.
The Education Committee will be sponsoring up to four delegates to attend the Saskatchewan Association of Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technicians (SACLXT) Conference on October 21, 2023 at the Saskatoon Inn at 2002 Airport Dr, Saskatoon.
They will reimburse registration costs, lost wages, travel costs and meal expenses for those who are selected to attend according to our policies.
Space for these courses is limited, so get your Expression of Interest in soon. Your completed Expression of Interest form must be received in our office on or before August 27, 2023 in order to allow us to complete the selection process.

*Once you've been notified that the Education Committee is sponsoring you, you'll still need to register for the conference. Early bird deadline is September 1. We will book you a hotel room if required and we will send you our Member Expense Form to reimburse your costs.

In recent years, many people have changed the way in which they acknowledge Canada Day. Following the shock of the discovery of thousands of unmarked graves of Indigenous children at residential schools cross Canada, many allies came together to honour Indigenous communities and to raise awareness of the historical and ongoing harms to Indigenous people in Canada. Some communities are shifting to traditional celebrations of Canada, while others have opted to acknowledge Canada Day as a day for mourning and solidarity with Indigenous people.

Your SEIU-West Bargaining Committee hasn’t had much to report on the bargaining front because of the excessive periods of time SAHO takes before it provided responses to our requests regarding setting up a meeting to discuss logistical issues prior to setting dates for our bargaining sessions.

Monetary discussions began during the November 18th 2023 date. The Union was adamant that retroactive pay would go back to the date of Certification (January 27, 2020).
