CLXTs are a vital part of providing quality health care. They perform X-Ray exams and Electrocardiograms; collect and prepare samples for in-house or reference laboratory testing; complete laboratory reports and distribute test results while simultaneously providing compassionate care to patients. October 16 - 22 is Combined Laboratory & X-Ray Technologist Week, so we are here to say thank you for all that you do!

Gerry is a Combined Laboratory & X-Ray Technologist working in rural Saskatchewan. Her days are filled with duties that require keen attention to detail and precision, but the highlights for Gerry are being part of a small community where she knows the clients and families who come to the clinic. CLXTs are an integral part of the health care team. The role of a CLXT is to provide diagnostic tools that the entire team relies on to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. In addition to being skilled in the use of medical diagnostic technology, CLXTs can procure and analyze specimens. Testing can sometimes feel scary for patients, especially the little ones. Gerry fondly remembers helping a child feel comfortable in the clinic, being part of a small community means she knows them when they come in. Seeing a friendly, compassionate face goes a long way to making patients feel more comfortable when they need diagnostic testing.

CLXTs are essential to providing first class care. Thank you for your professionalism, your proficiency and your compassion!
