Red Dress Awareness Walk 2024
Join the SEIU-West First Nations Métis Inuit Committee (FNMIC) in a walk on May 5 to bring awareness for Missing &Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two Spirit (IWG2S) people.
SEIU-West Education Committee is encouraging our members to seek out the opportunities to take education on mental health.
In a report released by Statistics Canada, seven in 10 healthcare workers reported worsening mental health during the pandemic.
The Education Committee has researched several options to share with you:
Canadian Mental Health Association Saskatoon Branch has free online courses:
Through McKerracher Centre, there is help as well. They have 4 programs a year:
These are free to attend, but they advise to call ahead to reserve the spot.
Their programs are in-person.
You can call their intake line at 306-655-7777 for assistance.
The Schizophrenia Society has a partnership program to offer presentations. Their video is really interesting and can be found here.
And Saskatchewan Health Authority offers supports Mental Health and Addictions Services as well.
We know that these are trying times, but know that you're not alone. There is help. Sk.211.ca is another great list of resources.
In solidiarity,

Rally Notice: Underfunded, Understaffed, and Undervalued
SEIU-West members will be gathering outside Everett Hindley’s office in Swift Current at 1 pm on Tuesday April 30, 2024 to rally around strong public services in Saskatchewan.
“All of our public services are suffering under the current government,” says Barbara Cape, President of SEIU-West. “Healthcare, education, social services, are being chronically underfunded, understaffed, and undervalued by the current government.”
