SEIU-West President, Barbara Cape, was one of the recipients of the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal (Saskatchewan) in recognition of her tireless work in the labour sector.
The Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal (Saskatchewan) was created to celebrate the 70th anniversary year of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Accession to the Throne, which began on February 6, 2022. The medal is a tangible way for the province of Saskatchewan to honour Her Majesty for her service to Canada. Her Majesty The Queen approved the design of the medal in May 2022. Permission has been sought from the Office of the Governor General of Canada to have this medal included in the Order of Precedence with the other commemorative medals of the Canadian Honours System.
Barb commented that she believes many of our members are deserving of this honour, and she agreed to accept it on behalf of our membership. While we would agree that our members are all amazing, we hope that you will share in our pride in this important recognition. Thank you, Barb, for your dedication and your passion!
