November 20-28, 2021 is Saskatchewan Multicultural Week. This year, the Multicultural Association of Saskatchewan is asking us to celebrate Saskatchewan Multicultural week by having residents share stories with the hashtag #TogetherWeMakeSaskatchewanStrong.
We couldn't be more proud of our members, so we are highlighting some of our multicultural members this week. Meet Manu.
Manu works as an Environmental Service Worker (ESW) in an urban hospital. Every day, Manu cleans and sanitizes the rooms at the hospital and prepares the beds. He loves his job and finds every day memorable because of lovely people's smiles. When the pandemic hit, there was a great focus on safety and containing the spread of the virus. These ESWs worked diligently, unsure of who potentially has COVID and what rooms were contaminated. However, contagions are a constant concern in hospitals, as ESWs have worked around many contagions like MRSA, Clostridium Difficile (C. Difficile), Norovirus, Influenza, and others.
They rose to the challenge and came to work when COVID kept many people at home.
Workers like Manu work hard every day to ensure the rooms are clean while taking a moment to engage with patients, sharing a story or smile, and supporting the staff at the hospital to ensure the rest of the team can do their jobs.
Thank you Manu! You all do a fantastic job in our hospitals and Long-Term Care (LTC) Homes!
