Did you know that there is an entire structure—the backbone—of our public healthcare system that rarely gets the recognition it deserves.
It’s important that this structure be cared for and maintained for the health of everyone.
Everyone within the healthcare system works in partnership with each other. Our work relies on every have the tools and people they need to do their job. If one part of the healthcare system is having challenges—the whole system is struggling but we still try to get the job done for the public.
Those challenges can be not having enough staff, faulty equipment, not enough supplies, being limited in how you can practice your profession, or not having enough time in your day to provide skilled, professional care.
These are the staff that provide hands on care, perform diagnostic tests, prepare nutritious meals, keep facilities clean, ensures that equipment is running well, ensure that care is provided in a safe environment, care for your health information, and so many other important pieces of our system.
We want to re-introduce you to the members of your public healthcare team.
We are members of your community hospital, long term care facility, homecare agency and public health service.
We want you to stand up with us and for us and send a letter to Andrew Will, the Chief Executive Officer of the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) and both Saskatchewan Ministers of Health to tell them it’s time for a fair deal for healthcare providers that respects their roles in the healthcare system, protects them from the mental and physical harms that are far too common in healthcare, and pays them a wage that allows them to raise their families, enjoy their lives, and attracts more staff to the system.
Investing in healthcare providers puts patients, clients, and residents first, because the conditions of our work are the conditions of their care.
