November 6 is Community Based Organizations (CBO) Worker Appreciation Day.
On the eve of CBO Worker Appreciation Day, SEIU-West members of the Tri-Union CBO Committee, along with representatives from CUPE and SGEU, had the opportunity to meet with government and opposition representatives in Regina.
Topics for discussion included the ongoing need for stable, multi-year funding, high turnover rates and staffing shortages, the lack of transparency and accountability, and inadequate oversight on health and safety issues. Unfortunately, these are the same topics committee members discussed with the Minister of Social Services last November.
CBO workers provide vital services and support for the people of Saskatchewan. They work in child care, disability and social supports, shelter programs, mental health and additions, suicide prevention and intervention, vocational training, and so much more. Thank you for your dedication to supporting some of the most vulnerable people in our province!
