May 12 is Continuing Care Assistant Day in Saskatchewan.
This day is an important day to celebrate the contributions that CCAs make to the health and well being of Saskatchewan residents. CCAs work in a variety of facilities across the province, from acute care to long term care to home care. They offer compassionate, skilled care and are dedicated professionals. CCAs are often thought of as the heart of the family of nursing, as they support patients, clients, and residents through the activities of daily living, while offering a caring smile and a kind word.

To recognize Nursing Week, the Nursing Care Committee, the Young Workers Committee, and the Political Action and Awareness Committee have come together to sponsor members of the Family of Nursing to attend the Legislative Assembly in Regina, as well as meet with government officials to bring their concerns forward.
On May 12, SEIU-West members met with NDP Leader Carla Beck, MLAs Vicki Mowat, Meara Conway, Jacqueline Roy, and Keith Jorgenson in the morning and Minister of Health Jeremy Cockrill, Minister of Mental Health and Addictions, Seniors and Rural Remote Health Lori Carr, and Minister of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety Jim Reiter in the afternoon.
These members were welcomed to the Legislative Assembly by the Minister of Health Jeremy Cockrill and by Vicki Mowat, Shadow Minister of Health.
