The following Constitutional Amendments were debated, voted on, and passed during Convention:

  • Dues cap of $49 per biweekly pay period is removed. This means that, effective January 1, 2024, all members will pay 1.7% of gross pay in dues each pay period. This promotes fairness and equity across our membership and will help improve services for our members across the province.
  • Diversity seats introduced to the Executive Board: First Nations, Metis & Inuit; Worker of Colour; Gender and Sexual Diversity, along with the Young Worker seat, that will reflect the Diversity of our membership and create a space where all members can flourish. This comes into effect immediately. New Committees will be struck for a two-year term in the coming months, with diversity seats being filled no later than All Committee Day. All Committee Day is scheduled to take place in September 2023.

If you have any questions, please contact the Member Resource Centre (MRC) at 1-888-999-7348; [email protected]; or through the contact form. While the MRC cannot answer your specific question regarding constitutional amendments, they can forward it to SEIU-West President Barbara Cape.
