The SEIU-West 2025 Convention was held at the Delta Downtown Saskatoon on May 27, 28, and 29. Delegates who represented units from across Saskatchewan came together to make decisions on the future of our Union and were united under the theme of Build Worker Power!
At this convention, the delegates not only voted on changes to the constitution, but they also selected who they wanted to represent them as their President, Treasurer, one Trustee, and seven Members-at-Large in three caucuses. Each term is four years, unless otherwise noted. The results of the elections, or acclamations as appropriate, are as follows:
President
Lisa Zunti (St. Paul's Hospital)
Treasurer
Janice Platzke (Cypress Regional Hospital)
Trustee
Colleen Denniss (Rose Villa)
Members at Large
(former) Saskatoon Health Region
- Jeanne Javinal (St. Paul's Hospital)
- Kim Wyatt (Royal University Hospital)
- Devin Manton (Royal University Hospital)
- Darby McComb (Nokomis Health Centre) 2 Year Term
(former) Cypress Health Region
- Jessica Perrault (Cypress Regional Hospital)
- Lou Ellen Murray (Southwest Integrated Health Facility) 2 Year Term
(former) Five Hills Health Region
- Brenda Berry (Moose Jaw Home Care)
(former) Heartland Health Region
- No Nominations
Education/Allied
- Nathan Holten (Canadian Linen, Regina)
Rest assured that normal operations will remain in place as we work to get our new board members up to speed.
In addition to elections, delegates voted in favour of a constitutional amendment which gave an additional Executive Board seat to the former Heartland Health Region, in recognition of growing membership within that region. Once this change is approved by SEIU International, we will open an Expression of Interest to fill this seat.
Presentations by SEIU-West staff departments were excellent and provided interesting and relevant information and data to the delegates in attendance. Included in these presentations was the Year in Review video spanning time since 2023's Convention.
