The recent news that Saskatchewan students are falling behind their counterparts in reading levels is both shocking and saddening.
The good news is that children whose parents are involved in family literacy activities score, on average, 10 points higher on standardized reading tests. This can be as simple as reading to children, which not only helps their reading scores, but strengthens the relationships between family members and encourages lifelong learning! With this in mind, we want to celebrate Family Literacy Day, which takes place on January 27, 2024.
