The Annual Saskatchewan Federation of Labour (SFL) Summer Camp will be held on August 10-16 at Shekinah Retreat Centre, near Waldheim.
SEIU-West is happy to be back at the Festival of Trees in Saskatoon this year! Thousands of visitors to the Festival are delighted when they arrive to see a collection of beautifully decorated trees, sponsored by various organizations including our very own SEIU-West tree.
SEIU-West is particularly excited to see that the proceeds of the Festival will benefit the City Hospital Foundation!
As is our tradition with this Festival, we want to support this great cause with a contest! We know decorating a tree is a wonderful way to spread holiday cheer – that’s why we’re holding a contest to determine who will be our SEIU-West Tree Decorating Team! If your team wins, you’ll all be invited to join the decorating day at the Western Development Museum on November 24 helping to make our union’s tree, “Hearts of Purple & Gold”, become a reality! Tree and decorations will be provided. All your lost wages and expenses will be covered by SEIU-West!
Who can enter?
SEIU-West members who create a team of 2-4 people, working within the same unit or facility.
How to enter?
As a team, answer the following questions:
- Why does your team think SEIU-West is the best union in Saskatchewan?
- How does your team build solidarity and Purple Pride at your workplace?
Send the name of your team members, along with your team answers to [email protected]
The deadline to enter is November 10, 2022.
The winning team will not only get to decorate the tree, but they’ll also have a chance to win the SEIU-West decorated tree that will be on display at the Festival of Trees to showcase at their workplace!
Period poverty describes the struggle faced by women and girls who cannot afford the cost of menstrual products, like pads or tampons. Having a period is a regular occurrence for 50% of the population; however for those who cannot afford basic sanitary supplies, it can become a monthly ordeal that limits their ability to go to school or work. Access to period products is a necessity, yet 1 in 3 Canadian women have sacrificed something else to buy pads or tampons.
