Information Picket on Anti-Bully Day

For Immediate Release, February 28, 2018

Saskatoon – SEIU-West members who are Support Workers at Elmwood Group Homes (EGH) and their Vice-President, Neil Colmin, will be hosting an information-picket on February 28, 2018 at 5 pm at the intersection of Arlington Ave and Tayler St. East in Saskatoon.

“When we returned to the bargaining table last week, our members at EGH were disappointed to find that the Employer still demanded our members accept a zero wage increase,” said Neil Colmin, Vice-President of SEIU-West. “Support Workers are barely getting by. With no pay increase in four years, that’s a real wage cut when you take into account the growing cost of living.

“This action is to let the community know about the unfairness our members are facing,” added Colmin. “Somehow, this employer is able to pay for a high-priced lawyer and relief workers from Nurse Next Door at double the wage of a Support Worker, yet still clings to its story it cannot afford any increase for their workers.”
