Earth Day 2025
April 22 is Earth Day, a day for people worldwide to unite in a global movement to acknowledge the climate crisis and seize the opportunities of a zero-carbon future.
May 11 to 17, 2020 was National Nursing Week, which included Continuing Care Assistant (CCA) Day on May 12 and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Day on May 13.
Throughout this week the SEIU-West Nursing Care Committee (NCC) recognized and celebrated the work of the members of the SEIU-West Family of Nursing: CCAs, LPNs, Operating Room Technicians (ORT-LPNs), and Direct Care/Support Workers performing similar roles in group homes.
In the lead up to Nursing Week, members of our Family of Nursing were invited to submit their photo and profile describing their work and what they like best about it and more than 60 members sent us their response!
The Political Action & Education (PA&E) department communications staff turned these submissions into Front Line Hero (FLH) profiles and photo collages, which were posted on SEIU-West’s Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages during Nursing Week. The average FLH post on Facebook was seen by over 1,800 people!
The Committee selected 16 submissions from a representative mix of facilities, programs, and classifications and gave those members grocery gift cards.
