We are providing this notice to you at the earliest stage we can. We are still gathering information about any potential impact on our members of the Union and we will provide further updates as more information becomes available.

Here is what is known at this time:

An employee of SEIU-West became aware of issues related to the Union’s ability to access electronic records the morning of March 10, 2022. Upon initial investigation, SEIU-West identified a cyber-attack that involved the unauthorized access to our computer systems by a third party in the very early morning of March 10, 2022.

There is potential that some personal information of Union members or employees may have been accessed. This information could include names, addresses, and Social Insurance Numbers, or other information related to members of the Union that has been collected in order for the Union to represent its members. Please note that the Union does not have access to nor does it store the banking information of its members.

At this time, access to the personal information of union members remains a potential risk, rather than an actual known risk. We are providing notice of this potential risk to allow you to choose to take steps to monitor your banking and credit information and protect yourself from potential harm. As further information becomes available, we will provide further updates.

SEIU-West has taken measures to protect all potentially affected individuals, including:

  • Engaging with information technology experts to secure and isolate the affected systems;
  • Reporting the incident to law enforcement;
  • Continuing to investigate the incident; and
  • Taking immediate steps to strengthen our systems to deter future incidents.

We are sorry for any inconvenience you may experience from this notification. Until further and more specific information is known, we recommend you monitor all your account statements and credit reports for suspicious activity and remain vigilant against incidents of identity theft and fraud.

We take our role in safeguarding your personal information and using it in an appropriate manner very seriously. We are doing everything we can to investigate and rectify the situation.
