February 26, 2025 is Pink Shirt Day, also known as Anti-Bully Day. This day began in Nova Scotia when a group of high school students wore pink shirts in support of a grade 9 boy who had been bullied for wearing pink.

March 21, 2025 is the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. This day is observed each year in remembrance of the day that police in Sharpeville South Africa opened fire on and killed 69 people at a peaceful demonstration against apartheid "pass laws" in 1960.

Beginning in 2025, the SEIU-West Gender and Sexual Diversity Committee has become a sponsor of the popular Anti-Bully pink shirts, distributed by SEIU-West to members to raise awareness about the impact of bullying so that we can all be part of the solution to make our workplaces and communities more welcoming and inclusive to all.

The SEIU-West Workers of Colour Multicultural Mentorship Committee, the Young Workers Committee, and the Education Committee have partnered to sponsor the black Stop Racism t-shirts, which help to raise awareness about the need for all of us to come together to stop racism whenever we see it.

Please note that all available shirts have been spoken for and the request form has been closed. Thanks for your interest in supporting these importance awareness days!

To assist in the distribution of these free shirts, and continue to be able to provide them free of cost, we are combining the request and distribution of the pink Anti-Bully shirts and the black Stop Racism shirts.
