Greetings Sisters and Brothers,
Monetary discussions began during the November 18th 2023 date. The Union was adamant that retroactive pay would go back to the date of Certification (January 27, 2020).
The Employer tabled a comprehensive tentative agreement to conclude bargaining. The bargaining committee planned a meeting on November 30th to present the Tentative Agreement to the membership. The meeting was transformed, with short notice, into a Bargaining Update, due to the Employer being unable to provide the Union with a proper calculation on the retroactive pay each member would be entitled to, upon ratification. The vote on the tentative Offer to Settle was put on hold.
A revised Offer to Settle, with proper retro pay calculations, was received by the Union on January 3, 2023. The membership voted on the tentative agreement and ratified their first agreement on January 18, 2023.
The agreed to Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) language has been adopted from the West Park Crossing CBA, with some variations to account for practices unique to the Riverbend unit. The term of the CBA is 3 years, from January 27, 2020 (date of certification) to January 26, 2023.
Wage rates were standardized and then a general wage increase of 2% for each of the 3 years of the CBA was achieved. There is a special adjustment of 1% on January 18, 2023, in order to provide a higher starting wage for the next round of bargaining.
The CBA was signed by May 12, 2023. Of note, when the notice of ratification was sent to the Employer, it was accompanied by the Union’s notice to bargain amendments for the next CBA.
The CBA has been printed and distributed to the membership.
