Your SEIU-West Bargaining Committee met with SAHO July 22 and 23 in Regina.
The Committee went through SAHO’s comprehensive July 10th proposal, line-by-line, and reviewed all other outstanding issues, building a comprehensive package of responses that was presented to SAHO on June 23.
The two sides withdrew more than 40 of their respective proposals and reached agreement on a significant number of each other’s proposals.
In short, progress was made. But there is still hard work ahead.
Over the past two weeks SAHO has unilaterally made several major changes to the bargaining process, including dates, locations, format, and agenda.
SEIU-West continues to bargain, in good faith, with the goal of getting you the collective agreement you deserve as soon as possible. We are also exploring all other legal options to achieve that goal.
The Employer is demanding greater freedom to move work and workers. SEIU-West is standing firm: the current collective agreement already allows for movement, but with limits and safeguards to help assure that any movement respects your rights and your family’s needs.
Monetary items, including the amount of the general wage increase, are also on the table, and will be bargained as soon as possible. Since their recent unilateral changes to bargaining SAHO has not made clear when and how they would be willing to bargain these matters.
The parties are next scheduled to meet August 13 and 14.
