Greetings Sisters and Brothers,
Between January 11, 2021 and January 15, 2021, SEIU-West members who work for the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) or an Affiliate voted on the question of whether to accept or reject the tentative agreement reached between SEIU-West and SAHO.
The tentative agreement has been accepted by 84% of member votes cast.
Our next steps are to complete the ratification process which includes concluding our discussions with the Saskatchewan Association of Health Organizations (SAHO), SHA, and 3sHealth; getting retro and lump sum calculations done and paid out; and finalize the wording and layout of our collective agreement so it’s ready for formal signing and printing.
Once the collective agreement is formally in place, SEIU-West will join the work on the implementation of common terms in all three provider union collective agreements, which includes discussions with our coalition partners, CUPE and SGEU as well as SAHO, the SHA and Affiliates.
As we stated in our virtual townhall and video conference meetings, along with the Q & A on our website, union dues will not be deducted from the lump sum payment of $200.
Retro pay will be paid on a separate cheque from your usual pay statement.
If you know of any retirees who may be eligible for the lump sum or retro payments, please direct them to contact their last employer. There will be further information on the SEIU-West website regarding retro pay for retirees, those members who may have been laid off within the qualifying time, and the estates of members who have passed away.
The SEIU-West bargaining committee extends our deep thanks and appreciation for the support, hard work and activism of our members.
Together we have been successful in demonstrating to SHA, SAHO and our provincial government that collectively we will fight inequity. This has been a long process and we are pleased that we were able to obtain a collective agreement that is acceptable to our membership.
