Earth Day 2025
April 22 is Earth Day, a day for people worldwide to unite in a global movement to acknowledge the climate crisis and seize the opportunities of a zero-carbon future.
Date: January 27, 2023
Sisters, Brothers and Comrades,
Your SEIU-West Bargaining Committee met January 25 and 26, to conclude our review of the SEIU-West proposal package. We also reviewed a package of “common proposal”, where SEIU-West, SGEU Health Providers and CUPE have the same language, to identify improvements our members have identified in their replies to the bargaining updates, in their calls and emails to the Member Resource Center and in their responses and comments in the bargaining survey that our members completed.
We served our formal notice to bargain to the Saskatchewan Association of Healthcare Organizations (SAHO), the bargaining representative for the SHA, in the week of January 23rd. At the same time, we served formal notice to bargain to SAHO, as the bargaining representative for the SHA as successor Employer, for the Extendicare/SEIU-West Collective Agreement.
While we wait for the Employer to respond, SEIU-West will be planning for the utilization of virtual townhall meetings as a timely and informative way to keep our members in the loop as bargaining commences. SEIU-West will also be meeting with our provider union partners to further discuss our common table proposals and other matters of common interest.
On behalf of the Committee, I want to remind members to contact the Member Resource Center by phone at 1-888-999-7348 Ext 2298, by email at [email protected] or by using the contact form at www.SEIUWEST.ca. Whether you call or email, don’t forget to leave your phone number and a message so we can track the issues that are arising in the workplace.
In Solidarity on behalf of the SEIU-West Bargaining Committee
