Date: February 24, 2026

Greetings Sisters and Brothers,

Notice to bargain was served on the Employer on the November 14, 2025. The Bargaining Committee consists of Ivy Krueger-Booker and Christine Derkach. The Committee met on January 14, 2026 and created their proposals package to exchange with the Employer. Dates to commence bargaining with the Employer were set for February 11th and 12th, 2026. The Employer cancelled the February 11th date with short notice. The Committee used that date to revise their proposal package, and spent a significant amount of time reviewing the wage rate document the Employer had previously provided to the Union on January 30th. There are many inconsistencies within the rates of pay in the same classifications, with the largest classification discrepancies in the Resident Attendant position. The starting rate in the Resident Attendant position is currently $15.35 and there are ten different rates of pay within the Resident Attendant classification.

We met and exchanged proposals on February 12th, 2026. The Union is staying focused on increasing rates of pay throughout the classifications, and assuring there is consistency in how the rates of pay are being applied.

The Union has now secured an off-site location, for a general membership meeting, specifically to get direction from the members as we prepare for our next bargaining date with the Employer. The meetings will be off-site at the Four Points by Sheraton hotel (503 Cope Way). We will be conducting three (3) general membership meetings on Friday, March 13th starting at 8:00 am, another at 12:00 noon, and a third meeting at 3:00 pm. An email will be going out to the membership with details of these meetings.

Our next confirmed dates to continue negotiations with the Employer are set for March 30th and 31st, 2026.

On behalf of the Committee, if you have questions about bargaining and/or your Collective Agreement contact the Member Resource Centre (MRC) by phone at 1-888-999-7348 ext 2298, by email at [email protected], or by using the contact form at www.seiuwest.ca.

Your participation in your Union makes us all strong!

In Solidarity,

The SEIU-West Stonebridge Crossing Bargaining Committee:
