Greetings Sisters and Brothers,
In our last Bargaining Update from June 9, we advised that bargaining with the Employer has reached an impasse and we would be providing the Ministry of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety with a Notice of Impasse.
Since then, the Employer has responded to the Ministry following their receipt of the impasse notice and asserted they believed there was still room to continue bargaining.
On July 8, Kevin Eckert was appointed to mediate the impasse.
On July 21 (Day 8), the parties met to see whether there was a path forward to conclude bargaining prior to mediation. Unfortunately, there was very little to no movement and the parties realized the next step would be to meet with the mediator and cancelled the previously scheduled bargaining dates of July 29 and July 30. The parties have several dates set aside in September to meet with the mediator.
