Hello Sisters and Brothers,
In our last bargaining update, we advised that we had reached an impasse and would be meeting with the Ministry of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety and your Employer.
Kevin Eckert was appointed to mediate the impasse.
On September 25th, (Day 9) the Parties met, with the assigned Mediator and your Employer. As a result of minimal movement from the Employer on outstanding monetary proposals, the Union was unable to agree to the Employer’s last Offer to Settle.
Mediator Kevin Eckert will inform the Minister of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety and provide a report indicating that the impasse has not been resolved through mediation. There is a legislated 14-day cooling period that begins once the Minister has received the Mediator’s report. The “14 day cooling off period” is to allow the Parties to come a resolve prior to the commencement of any job action taking place.
A membership meeting is being scheduled for Tuesday September 29th, 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Four Points By Sheraton (meeting room will be assigned), 503 Cope Way. Members are urged to arrive any time after 2:00 pm and your Bargaining Team will be open to answering questions and general discussion regarding next steps. We have the room booked until 5:00 PM.
