There are currently two vacancies on the SEIU-West Executive Board for members that work for the former Saskatoon Health Region.
During Health Care Providers Week, SEIU-West members who work at Saskatoon City Hospital (SCH) held a contest asking how members connect/stay up to date with their union and why they work in health care. Suma, a LPN who works at SCH, was their lucky winner after sharing her moving story:
My name is Suma and I am an LPN at City Hospital on 3100 in Saskatoon! :)
The other healthcare providers, the management, and facilities are all reasons why I like my job but the reason I love my job in healthcare is the patients.
The connections I am able to make with patients have helped me grow as a person. My patients have taught me compassion, patience and empathy in a way no other profession could have. Being able to hear their life stories, struggles and successes is a source of daily inspiration and I am so thankful that I am able to have these interactions with them!
Ways to connect with my union are through email and telephone!
