As a part of International Women's Day and in conjunction with the United Way, SEIU-West is proud to once again be collecting menstrual products as part of the Tampon Tuesday initiative.
The choice between necessities like food or shelter and safe period products should never be a choice a menstruating person needs to make. Sadly though, it is. Poverty, homelessness, remote or rural locations, and other factors can make access to these products difficult.
According to United Way Saskatoon and Area, 2021 was the most successful Tampon Tuesday collection yet with almost 2,000 packages of products collected and $17,000 raised. All products and money were distributed to 23 agencies, organizations, and schools. It is SEIU-West's hope that this year, the 6th annual drive, will be even better.
