December 18 was International Migrants Day and to celebrate, Multicultural Mentorship Committee had a contest!

Csilla shared her story with us here:

Csilla is a Security Officer in acute care. She left Romania in 2009 to come to Canada because she already had extended family here and she knew it was a fair country to live in with no corruption.

When Csilla first came here, she was scared and lost. She didn't speak any English. She had to ask for help for everything that she needed to do, like rent a place to live, buy furniture, and find a job.

Finding a job was the key for Csilla's success. She found work in a place where no one spoke any language but English, so she had to learn quickly. After every shift, she went home with at least five new English words that she learned.

Welcome to Canada Csilla! We are proud to have you as a member of SEIU-West!
