World Suicide Prevention Day (#WSPD19), September 10, 2019,  #YXE - EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO ATTEND

The purpose of this day is to raise awareness around the globe that suicide is preventable.  

Details: 

WHEN: September 10, 2019 at 4 PM – 5:30 PM

WHERE: Station 20 West, (1120 – 20th Street West)

Purpose: 

This event is to bring awareness to suicide prevention and awareness by reducing the stigma of mental Health. Suicide is a Health condition. 

Agenda: (more speakers TBA) 

  • Danielle Chartier: first elected NDP MLA for Saskatoon Riversdale and critic for Mental Health and addictions.
  • Shane Partridge: Provincial Gang Strategy Assistant at STR8 UP: 10,000 Little Steps to Healing, Inc.A Saskatoon-based group that has spent 17 years helping get people out of gangs is calling for governments to step up with funding for a provincewide anti-gang strategy.
  • Kevin Wesaquate: Kevin spoken word poet and visual artist is currently employed as the Aboriginal Arts Leader at SCYAP. Kevin is the founder of Indigenous Poetry Society with hopes of building a larger community of artist. Kevin represented Saskatoon at the Canadian Individual Slam in Vancouver in April 2018 as well as representing Tonight It’s Poetry for the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word in 2017 and 2018. He recently finished the Indigenous Fine Arts Residency in Banff Centre for the Arts, called ‘Ghost Days, Making Art for Spirit. 2019’.  Becoming community leader in Saskatoon he is from Piapot First Nation where he learned the value of a community.
