Your Extendicare Bargaining Committee has been hard at work.
We have completed the bargaining survey and it will be available from your unit chairs next week.
The survey will also be on our website on the Extendicare page: https://bit.ly/3BzcWUp where your bargaining updates (like this one) will be posted as they become available. Please take the time to identify your bargaining issues and provide comments on the issues the committee has identified.
The SAHO tentative agreement document is posted on the SEIU-West website. Go to https://bit.ly/3x0BtOT so you can see what changes have been made with respect to compensation and other matters. A very significant change is the way in which seniority is calculated for SEIU-West members who work for the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA). The document outlining the change and how it will be introduced is also in the tentative agreement. We want your opinion on this change.
Using the information gathered through the survey, the bargaining committee will have a complete bargaining proposal package to table with the Employer at the commencement of bargaining.

March 21, 2025 is the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. This day is observed each year in remembrance of the day that police in Sharpeville South Africa opened fire on and killed 69 people at a peaceful demonstration against apartheid "pass laws" in 1960.
Info pickets provide an opportunity for SEIU-West members to send a message to their employer and to the general public, that bargaining needs to progress and SEIU-West members deserve a fair contract! This is not job action or a strike, attendance at an info picket is voluntary and takes place on unpaid time, such as a day off or during a break. In addition, it can't take place on the employer's property and we cannot interfere with the flow of people or traffic.
The 65th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Saskatoon and District Labour Council (SDLC) will be held at Masonic Temple, 1021 Saskatchewan Crescent West on February 7th & 8th, 2025.
