October 30, 2026
Dear Members,
Your SEIU-West Bargaining Committee met with SAHO on October 28-30.
SAHO presented their latest proposal and we countered with a comprehensive proposal that included all monetary items.
Throughout bargaining, including in our most recent proposal, we have refused to engage with SAHO’s proposals on the movement of work and workers.
In the afternoon of October 29 our legal team filed an Unfair Labour Practice complaint with the Saskatchewan Labour Relations Board (LRB). Our complaint is that SAHO’s proposals on movement are a violation of the Saskatchewan Employment Act. We have asked the LRB to order SAHO to retable its package, but with these proposals removed.
SAHO has 10 days to file their response.
Our position is that in the meantime, bargaining on all outstanding proposals can continue.
We won’t settle for anything less than a fair deal that addresses the rising cost of living in Saskatchewan and the years of low wage increases. The Employer’s package simply isn’t enough. Remember: during the pandemic, they called you “heroes” but gave you zeroes in the last contract.
The Employer is trying to create a sense of urgency, that their numbers are the best you’re going to get, and that we have to settle for these numbers immediately.
Some of the other health provider unions seem to be giving in to the Employer’s pressure tactics. We think you deserve better.
Next bargaining dates are scheduled for November 12 and 13.
Please watch for further updates and send any questions you have to the Member Resource Centre at 1-888-999-7348 ext 1, email [email protected], or complete the Contact Us form on our website, www.seiuwest.ca.
Sincerely,
Your SEIU-West Bargaining Committee
