Greetings Brothers and Sisters:
The SEIU-West members who work at Extendicare Canada’s Elmview, Preston, Moose Jaw, Parkside, and Sunset facilities have voted in favour of the tentative agreement by 85.6%.
The ongoing pandemic prevented us from meeting or voting in person. We appreciate your patience with the virtual processes we developed instead. As noted in the previous Bargaining Bulletin (No. 5) we made both online and telephone voting options available via Simply Voting, which required members to register online or by phone to receive the codes needed to log in and vote.
Registration was open from December 17 to January 4 (extended from the original deadline of January 3). Information meetings were held on Zoom in the afternoon and evening of December 20 and 21. Voting was open from January 5 at 9:00 AM to January 6 at 9:00 AM.
The Bargaining Committee wishes to thank our members who have worked incredibly hard, not only during the pandemic, but prior to COVID, in bringing their skills and compassion to the care they provide every single day. You are incredible! We will begin work on getting the formal documents ready to sign and print and keep you updated on this as things progress.
