Virtual town halls (VTHs) were scheduled for the evenings of May 27 and 28 to update SEIU-West members about SAHO bargaining and answer bargaining questions. Unfortunately, the VTH on May 27 ran into major technical glitches. We apologize if you were one of the hundreds of members whose experienced this failure. We were not satisfied that the supplier of the VTH platform would be able to properly fix these problems in time, so we decided to cancel the May 28 VTH.
You may have noticed there hasn't been an announcement about bbqs for the summer yet.

Greetings Sisters, Brothers, and Colleagues,
June is Philippines Heritage Month, so one of SEIU-West's Multicultural Mentorship Committee members caught up with Michelle Beveridge, Chief of Staff for the Office of Mayor Charlie Clark. Here's what she had to say about being Filipino.
Moose Jaw— On Thursday June 15, 2023, the Moose Jaw Chamber of Commerce hosted a breakfast event for SaskParty MLA and Minister for Rural and Remote Health, Everett Hindley.
SEIU-West members and their supporters were outside the Moose Jaw Event Centre to bring attention to the lack of a focused plan on the part of the SaskParty government to retain and invest in our frontline healthcare workers. Specifically, Mr. Hindley’s dismissive comments about Continuing Care Assistants (CCAs).

Greetings Sisters and Brothers,
In our most recent update of the 27th of March 2023, we informed you that we had tabled a last position at bargaining which the Employer did not accept. We declared an impasse and asked the Labour Relations Board to assist us in bargaining. Under the law the first step in that process is for the parties to meet with a conciliator appointed by the Executive Director of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety. We met with the conciliator and the Employer on the 6th of June and the morning of the 7th. That step was not successful. We are disappointed but not surprised. We were prepared for it and because this is only one step of the process, we are not discouraged.
