September 30th is Orange Shirt Day and we are honoured to support this movement.
This is a day to honuor Indigenous children who were taken away to residential schools in Canada.
This day was also recently declared the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
SEIU-West's First Nations Métis Inuit Committee (FNMIC) and SEIU-West's Education Committee are partnering to give away free orange shirts to SEIU-West members. We have a limited number of shirts to give away, so this process will be on a first-come first-served basis. Deadline to apply for the shirts is 4pm on September 15, 2024. We cannot accommodate any requests for shirts past this date and time. In order to be able to provide shirts free of cost, we ask that you coordinate pick up at one of our three offices.
In the interest of fairness, we are allowing one shirt per member. Please do not request more than one shirt or request a shirt if you've received one from us in past years. We will contact you via text or email when the shirts are ready for pick up. Any shirts which are not picked up by September 27 will be considered unwanted and placed in inventory for 2025.
Apply here for your shirt. We would love to see you all in your orange on September 30th, so please send pics to [email protected] to be featured on our socials.
