The SEIU-West First Nations, Métis and Inuit Committee and Education Committee are pleased to provide members with an orange shirt in advance of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

We have a limited supply of shirts available for pick up at any of our three offices:

  • Moose Jaw: 39 Athabasca Street West
  • Saskatoon: 200-747 46th Street West
  • Swift Current: 333 Central Avenue

Shirts are available now and will be available until September 17th or while supplies last.

We are offering one shirt per member, pick up only, and you can't pick up a shirt on behalf of others.

*We are scent-free office. Business hours are 8:30-5:00, closed on September 7th for Labour day.

Orange shirt day was inspired by Phyllis Webstad, a residential school survivor, who went to school at the age of 6 with a new, orange shirt that she was excited to wear to school, only to have it taken from her. Read about her story here

The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada recommended 94 calls to action to work on to achieve real reconciliation. Progress on these calls to action can be found on Indigenous Watchdog.org.

The First Nations, Métis and Inuit Committee is asking you to wear an orange shirt on September 30th, send your pictures to [email protected], and take it a step further by engaging in events on September 30th or educating yourself through books, movies or the TRC website. The First Nations, Métis and Inuit Committee has a list of resources on their page if you're looking for a good book or show/movie.
