Date: January 22, 2024

Greetings Sisters, Brothers, and Colleagues,

The parties met on January 15 and agreed on proposed language which reduced the list of outstanding non-monetary Articles. During the bargaining dates in November, the Bargaining Committee asked the Employer to address the concern about the fact that the Employer had ceased its “business as usual“ practice of providing annual wage increases to our members that they had been receiving prior to the Unit’s certification order being issued, without first having discussions with the Union. Such action (or lack thereof) had a definite negative effect on the relationship of the members toward their Employer.

We received an answer from the Employer when we raised the question again at the end of the day on January 15. The Employer indicated it will address the issue when we get to monetary discussions. We expect a proposal at that time to satisfactorily address the issue.

The Bargaining Committee will meet to caucus on March 4. The Employer and Union have confirmed March 12, 13, and 14 as dates to resume bargaining.
On behalf of the Committee, if you have questions about bargaining and/or your collective agreement contact the Member Resource Centre (MRC) by phone at 1-888-999-7348 ext 2298, by email at [email protected], or by using the contact form at www.seiuwest.ca.

Your participation in your Union makes us all strong!

In Solidarity,

The SEIU-West Stonebridge Crossing Bargaining Committee

Christine Derkach (Unit Chair) • Nathalie Ahotoh (Unit Vice-Chair) • Ivy Krueger (Communicator) Staff: Tracy Goodheart (Union Representative) • Larry Buchinski (Southern Negotiations Officer) • Bob Laurie (Director, Contract Bargaining & Enforcement)
