SEIU-West President, Lisa Zunti, took part in the SFL/UFCW Women’s Conference panel discussion on March 5, 2026 at the Heritage Inn.

The panellists spoke about their union’s perspectives on the current challenges facing the labour movement today.

They talked about emerging issues that will affect union members and workers as a whole, how each of them are addressing the needs of young workers, building solidarity among unions, and how to align with external partners.

Lisa spoke about the threat of privatization in health care and education and the precariousness of work for new Canadians as issues that are affecting us all.

She also took the opportunity to highlight the work of our Young Worker Committee who sponsors social events like pottery nights and our union’s policy on paying for child care to attend Union-sponsored events.

As for building solidarity, SEIU-West is a leader in Organizing and is helping other unions learn how to organize their members and new members.
