Earth Day is around the corner, April 22nd, and we are marking it with a critical webinar on extreme heat. "Heating Up: Special Earth Day Webinar" is scheduled for April 22nd from 7:30-8:30 PM EST/4:30-5:30 PM PST. The webinar will cover what to expect this summer across North America, how to protect yourself and those around you, and what your rights are at work.
It's January and time to celebrate Family Literacy Day! This fun celebration raises awareness about the importance of reading and engaging in other literacy-related activities. For kids, taking time to read every day is crucial to a child's development, improving their literacy skills dramatically. For adults, reading allows us to learn something new, or escape into an exciting world of fiction. Family literacy allows the entire family to improve their reading and writing skills.
To celebrate Family Literacy Day, we are holding a contest! To enter this year's contest, all you have to do is email us at [email protected] and tell us the name of your favourite book in one of four categories, Children's Books, Young Adult, Adult Fiction, or Adult Non-Fiction. Five lucky winners will receive a gift card to one of our favourite bookstores!
We'll share the entries so that we can create our 2023 reading lists from books recommended by fellow members!
Contest Rules:
This contest is open to SEIU-West members.
You can submit as many book recommendations as you like, but prize entries are limited to one entry per person.
Contest closes on Wednesday January 25. Winners will be contacted via email. Contest is not affiliated with or sponsored by any social media platform.
Winners will be selected via random draw.
