The Municipal Employees’ Pension Commission (MEPC, the Commission) met on April 21, 2023. The Commission met with the Municipal Employees’ Pension Plan’s (MEPP, the Plan) actuary and approved the assumptions to be used in the management valuation of MEPP as at December 31, 2022.
Meeting with its general investment consultant, the Commission approved a plan to implement the decisions made during the strategic review of the Plan’s investments. Additionally, the Commission received information on the Plan’s Canadian equity and emerging markets assets. Meeting with its administrator, the Public Employees Benefits Agency (PEBA), the Commission received information regarding options with respect to governance of the Plan’s private market
investments.
The Commission met with its advertising agency and approved branding for the not-for-profit
corporation (NPC).
In alignment with its Acquisition and Retention of Services policy, the Commission selected a strategic investment consulting service provider.
The Commission received a report on the Town Hall sessions regarding PEBA’s transition to an NPC that were held for MEPP members in February 2023.
Meeting with its administrator, the Commission received presentations on PEBA’s Cyber Security strategy as well as the Cyber Security Dashboard as at March 31, 2023.
The Commission received an update on its annual work plan for September 2022 to June 2023. The update tracks the progress of the strategic initiatives identified in the Commission’s 2022-2024 Strategic Business Plan.
