Virtual town halls (VTHs) were scheduled for the evenings of May 27 and 28 to update SEIU-West members about SAHO bargaining and answer bargaining questions. Unfortunately, the VTH on May 27 ran into major technical glitches. We apologize if you were one of the hundreds of members whose experienced this failure. We were not satisfied that the supplier of the VTH platform would be able to properly fix these problems in time, so we decided to cancel the May 28 VTH.
You may have noticed there hasn't been an announcement about bbqs for the summer yet.
The SEIU-West First Nations, Métis and Inuit Committee (FNMIC) is hosting a contest to design an image for orange shirts that the committee provides yearly to members. Submit your design to enter to win a $100 Co-op gift card.

We embrace a model of leadership that promotes a fair society - one where all are respected and valued. We believe that coming together we can and will leave a better and more equal world for younger and later generations.
As a leader of SEIU-West, it is my honour to introduce you to Janine Lazaro as a member leader of SEIU-West. She is charming, energetic, bright and honest - and this civic election she has offered up her talents to join the leadership team on City Council in the City of Saskatoon. In my experience over the last 6 years, working next to Janine has been a pleasure. She is guided by strong principles, understands the need for public services and will actively pursue the concerns of her constituents.
Please support Janine Lazaro as City Councillor in Ward 3 and her agenda for an affordable, sustainable and inclusive Saskatoon.
If you are able to volunteer to help out this weekend or another time between now and November 9 (including on election day), please send let us know at [email protected] and we will forward your message to Janine.
A reminder that you don't have to wait for November 9 to cast your vote. Advance polls are open from Friday, October 30 - Thursday, November 5.

Humboldt & Wakaw – SEIU-West health care providers are reminding the public that they are still without a collective agreement. It’s been over 1300 days and they are frustrated with the lack of progress in negotiations with the Saskatchewan Association of Health Organizations (SAHO). This is due to the Saskatchewan Party government’s refusal to fund a fair deal.
During the 2020 Saskatchewan Municipal Election, SEIU-West is excited to re-launch Purple Votes!
The goal of the Purple Votes campaign is to engage members on important provincial election issues, support labout-friendly candidates, encourage member-to-member communication, and ultimately increase informed voter turnout within our membership.
There are also many ways to get involved AND win prizes! Check it out:

Each and every day we are astounded by the hard work and value that these members contribute to our society, particularly while on the frontlines of a global pandemic.
