Virtual town halls (VTHs) were scheduled for the evenings of May 27 and 28 to update SEIU-West members about SAHO bargaining and answer bargaining questions. Unfortunately, the VTH on May 27 ran into major technical glitches. We apologize if you were one of the hundreds of members whose experienced this failure. We were not satisfied that the supplier of the VTH platform would be able to properly fix these problems in time, so we decided to cancel the May 28 VTH.
You may have noticed there hasn't been an announcement about bbqs for the summer yet.
The SEIU-West First Nations, Métis and Inuit Committee (FNMIC) is hosting a contest to design an image for orange shirts that the committee provides yearly to members. Submit your design to enter to win a $100 Co-op gift card.

Re: Parties' Closing Arguments Regarding the SEIU-West Successorship Application
On September 29, the final arguments from SEIU-West, the Saskatchewan Health Authority (the SHA), CUPE and SGEU were heard by the Saskatchewan Labour Relations Board (SLRB) on SEIU-West’s successorship application to continue to represent the members of SEIU-West at the Extendicare facilities in Moose Jaw, Saskatoon, and the three Extendicare facilities in Regina.

The People Bridge Advocacy held its first ever Truth and Reconciliation Walking Together Sharing Circle on September 23rd. SEIU-West's Multicultural Mentorship Committee attended and have the following reports:
October 1 - 7 is Food Services Week and gives us a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the hardworking people who work within Food Services. These folks keep residents and patients safe by working with the entire team to ensure each person's dietary needs are met, while preparing and storing food safely to prevent foodborne illness.
SEIU-West stands in solidarity with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and with the labour movement in defending the rights of children and speaking out against authoritarian government overreach.

Saskatchewan—SEIU-West is pleased to share that following our A Safe Spot Means a Lot campaign, the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) has implemented a new Park & Ride Shuttle Service for workers at Royal University Hospital, the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital and the Dube Centre.
SEIU-West's First Nations Métis Inuit Committee (FNMIC) would like to share information about the meaning behind September 30th, Orange Shirt Day. Read Phyllis Webstad's story here. This date was chosen because this was the time of year where children were taken from their homes and put into residential schools.
