March 31 - April 6 is Scheduler's Week! We are proud to celebrate and recognize the hardworking members who manage staff scheduling.

These fine folks have to consider collective bargaining agreements, alongside the guidelines of each department in order to ensure staff are able to provide the care needed for clients, residents, and patients.

This year, we would love to introduce you to Caron. Caron is a Scheduler with Homecare in an urban centre. She has received education as a Medical Office Assistant, Office Administration, Bookkeeping, as well as additional ongoing education. She has been working as a Scheduler for more than 10 years!

In a typical day, Caron books visits for clients, enters new service requirements, books off and rebooks sick calls, answers all incoming calls from clients and Continuing Care Assistants. She also books TLRs and responds appropriately for immediate and upcoming client needs.

Caron was inspired to go into this line of work because she sincerely cares about the care of people, whether it is staff or clients. She believes that we are all a valuable asset to our community. She told us "I firmly believe staff when staff are properly respected, they will do their utmost to care for clients."

Members across the province rely on schedulers to coordinate all of the details to get staff to work and to ensure that client care needs are being met. This role requires a keen attention to detail and a commitment to team members, as well as patients and residents. Thank you Caron, for all that you do and for your commitment to care!

As we celebrate Scheduler's Week, please take a moment to thank  the schedulers in your facility and show them some appreciation for all that they do!
