West Park Crossing Bargaining Update No. 11

After our positive strike vote, the West Park Crossing Bargaining Committee notified the Minister of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety that an impasse has been reached in collective bargaining and requested mandatory conciliation assistance.

West Park Crossing Bargaining Update No. 08

Greetings Sisters, Brothers, and Colleagues,

The West Park Crossing bargaining committee met with the membership on June 20th at 6:30pm. The membership knew through posters that the topics of the meeting were to discuss the Employer’s latest proposal and to hold a vote for strike action if required. The meeting was well-attended by our members. The members were informed that we had reached an impasse with the Employer at our June 16th meeting. The primary issue was the Employer’s refusal to enhance their last monetary offer. The committee answered questions about the strike processes. The membership voted to reject the Employer’s offer and to take a strike vote.

West Park Crossing Bargaining Update No. 7

Greetings Sisters, Brothers, and Colleagues,

Your SEIU-West bargaining committee met with the Employer on May 3rd, 2023. We gave them our wage proposal which included a wage grid. We showed the Employer data that showed the wages at West Park Crossing are low compared to other personal care homes. The Employer proposed a single wage pay scale which didn’t come close to our proposal.

West Park Crossing Bargaining Update No. 06

Greetings Sisters, Brothers, and Colleagues,

Your SEIU-West bargaining committee continued negotiations with the employer committee consisting of the Sienna Director of Labour & Employee Relations Dea Mantel, and your facility manager Dianne Aasen, on April 26th, 2023. The union committee presented a package that included the issues you identified at the April 19th unit membership meeting, including a wage proposal with a pay grid. Sienna responded to the complete package late in the day, pretty well rejecting every one of our monetary proposals as well as proposals to fix the hours of work issues.

West Park Crossing Bargaining Update No. 05

Greetings Sisters and Brothers,

The Union and the Employer agreed to resume collective bargaining with West Park Crossing on February 17th and 24th 2023, and got off to a productive restart. Additional dates were set to meet on April 13th, 20th and 26th. The April 13th bargaining date ended with most of the “language” proposals being dealt with, and agreed to, or withdrawn.

Bargaining Update: Sienna Sabra

SEIU-West is pleased to announce that the parties have signed a Memorandum of Agreement for a temporary wage increase for the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) classification at Riverbend Crossing, West Park Crossing, Stonebridge Crossing, and Hunter Village.

Bargaining Update: Sienna Sabra

Greetings Sisters and Brothers, members of Riverbend, West Park Crossing, Stonebridge Crossing, and The ICH at The Village at Stonebridge,  

The four Sienna Units and their respective Bargaining Committee members attended a joint meeting, with SEIU–West staff in attendance (all via Zoom) on August 11th, 2022. Our discussion centered around having Sienna agree to bargain all four of these Business Units at a common table, since we felt there may some additional strength in bargaining collectively, in this way. We would need to have Sienna in agreement to do so.

West Park Crossing Bargaining Update No. 4

Greetings Sisters and Brothers,

The sale of West Park Crossing to Sienna-Sabre LP, is expected to be finalized in the month of June 2022. Previously scheduled Bargaining dates of April 13 and April 14 were cancelled by the Employer due to this impending sale. Bargaining has been “put on hold” until Sienna-Sabre takes possession of the property. We have been in communication with Sienna-Sabre regarding Collective Bargaining, and have been assured we will be proceeding, once the sale is complete. No additional dates have been set at this time.
