Virtual town halls (VTHs) were scheduled for the evenings of May 27 and 28 to update SEIU-West members about SAHO bargaining and answer bargaining questions. Unfortunately, the VTH on May 27 ran into major technical glitches. We apologize if you were one of the hundreds of members whose experienced this failure. We were not satisfied that the supplier of the VTH platform would be able to properly fix these problems in time, so we decided to cancel the May 28 VTH.
You may have noticed there hasn't been an announcement about bbqs for the summer yet.
The SEIU-West First Nations, Métis and Inuit Committee (FNMIC) is hosting a contest to design an image for orange shirts that the committee provides yearly to members. Submit your design to enter to win a $100 Co-op gift card.

SEIU-West 2023 Convention took place in Saskatoon May 30 - June 1. Below is a summary of some key changes members should be aware of.
Convention is a time where we make decisions on the future of our Union. At this convention, the delegates not only voted on changes to the constitution, but they also selected who they wanted to represent them as their Vice President, two Trustees, and nine Members-at-Large in six caucuses. Each term is four years, unless otherwise noted. The results of the elections are as follows:

June 4 - 10 is Unit Assistant and Unit Support Worker Week. This week provides an opportunity to celebrate and recognize the hard-working folks in a classification that many people don't know about! We are happy to introduce you to Jessica, a Unit Assistant who works in the emergency room of an urban acute care facility.

Saskatoon—Supporters of a strong public healthcare system joined SEIU-West members at the Saskatoon Cabinet Office to highlight the need for government investment in the patients, clients, and residents and the people who care for them in this province.
The Municipal Employees’ Pension Commission (MEPC, the Commission) met on April 21, 2023. The Commission met with the Municipal Employees’ Pension Plan’s (MEPP, the Plan) actuary and approved the assumptions to be used in the management valuation of MEPP as at December 31, 2022.
The Annual Saskatchewan Federation of Labour (SFL) Summer Camp will be held on August 19-25 at Shekinah Retreat Centre, near Waldheim.
May 14 - 20 is National Biomedical and Clinical Engineering Week. This is a week to recognize the contributions of the Biomedical Engineers, Clinical Engineers, Biomedical Engineering Technicians and Technologists who make valuable contributions to healthcare institutions in the areas of patient safety, research and development, technology management, equipment services, cost savings, problem solving, planning and support. They work to assemble, install, repair, calibrate, and inspect biomedical equipment and devices to ensure that it meets standards.

For years, SEIU-West has marched in pride parades. As a union, we celebrate and fight for equality and diversity. This year, you can join SEIU-West's Gender and Sexual Diversity Committee (GSDC) in the parade!
The committee members would love for you to walk with them in solidarity on:
- June 10th in Regina. Parade begins at 12:00pm.
- June 17th in Saskatoon. Parade begins at 1:00pm. We are at 5J.
- July 8th in Swift Current (Parade begins at 12:00pm, starting in Market Square (corner of Chaplin St E and Central Ave).
