Virtual town halls (VTHs) were scheduled for the evenings of May 27 and 28 to update SEIU-West members about SAHO bargaining and answer bargaining questions. Unfortunately, the VTH on May 27 ran into major technical glitches. We apologize if you were one of the hundreds of members whose experienced this failure. We were not satisfied that the supplier of the VTH platform would be able to properly fix these problems in time, so we decided to cancel the May 28 VTH.
You may have noticed there hasn't been an announcement about bbqs for the summer yet.
The SEIU-West First Nations, Métis and Inuit Committee (FNMIC) is hosting a contest to design an image for orange shirts that the committee provides yearly to members. Submit your design to enter to win a $100 Co-op gift card.

Saskatchewan – A commitment to catch up on surgical backlogs was announced in the Saskatchewan provincial budget leaving SEIU-West members speculating where additional staff will be drawn from given shortages we’re already seeing in health care providers working as part of the surgical team.

Saskatchewan – Since the Saskatchewan provincial budget was released on Wednesday March 23, SEIU-West members and leadership have been wondering how the budget’s proposed ‘new and independent agency dedicated to recruiting and retaining health care workers’ will work.
On March 21st, SEIU-West's Young Worker Committee partnered with the Multicultural Mentorship Committee to provide a limited number of shirts for International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
We had a post on tips to ending racism and a poster available for workplaces. We got amazing feedback from our members about a desire to broaden the campaign.

SEIU-West met with representatives from eHealth, the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) and the Saskatchewan Association of Health Organizations (SAHO), SGEU LOCAL 1579 eHealth, SGEU Health Providers and CUPE 5430 on March 14 & 21, 2022.
