Lesbian Visibility Day
Lesbian Visibility Day is April 26 and the SEIU-West Gender and Sexual Diversity Committee is celebrating with a contest!
The SEIU-West Gender and Sexual Diversity Committee (GSDC) invites you to apply to attend their 2023 Conference. This event will focus on understanding, supporting, and celebrating the needs/concerns/perspectives of 2SLGBTIQ+ persons.
The Conference will be held at Mayfair United Church located at 902 33rd St West in Saskatoon on April 20, 2023.
Conference will be held from 9:00 am until 4:30 pm.
Your completed Expression of Interest form must be submitted by Feb 21, 2023 to allow us to complete the registration and selection process.
For those selected, the committee will cover your costs including: your lost wages/honorarium, mileage, travel time and applicable meals as per our policies. Hotel rooms will also be provided if you are more than 200km away. We ask that you notify us to cancel your hotel if your plans change and you are unable to attend. If you are selected to attend and you are scheduled to work, you can apply for union leave to attend.

The SEIU-West Gender & Sexual Diversity Committee sponsored two delegates to attend the inaugural Trans Prairie Wellness Summit, which took place in Saskatoon in March. Below are the reports of the attendees.

International Transgender Day of Visibility is on March 31, 2024, and is about raising awareness about Transgender people and celebrating them.
Trans Sask is hosting the inaugural 2024 Trans Prairie Wellness Summit on March 17 & 18 on Treaty 6 Territory in Saskatoon.
The SEIU-West Gender and Sexual Diversity Committee is proud to begin production on a video: It Gets Better. This video project will feature SEIU-West members talking about their experiences relating to coming out, in the hopes of sharing the important message that It Gets Better.

International Lesbian Day, which is recognized on October 8, is a day for celebration in the lesbian community, but what exactly is International Lesbian Day? International Lesbian Day is a day to recognize and celebrate the achievements, contributions, and unique experiences of lesbian women.

September 23rd is Bisexual Pride Day, and SEIU-West’s Gender & Sexual Diversity Committee is happy to celebrate our bisexual and pansexual members.
