The SEIU-West Workers of Colour Multucultural Mentorship Committee reached out to one of their past committee members to share his knowledge of Africa Day on May 25th. We hope that you celebrate with us and learn a bit about Africa Day.
The Gender and Sexual Diversity Committee (GSDC) has a mandate to identify, support, and celebrate gender and sexually diverse members in their workplaces.
The SEIU-West Young Workers Committee is hosting its first free pottery night in Saskatoon on Thursday, June 6th, 2024 at 6pm. We are looking for 15-18 members aged 35 or under to attend. This will be a great opportunity to create some pottery, meet fellow young union members, and discuss issues of mental health and burnout among young members of the workforce.
On May 8, 2024 the Saskatoon office hosted the SEIU-West Family of Nursing Conference. Sponsored by the Nursing Care Committee (NCC), this conference is held every two years to celebrate the work of the members of our Family of Nursing: Continuing Care Assistants (CCAs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), and other SEIU-West members in similar hands-on care roles in personal care homes and group homes, such as Direct Support Workers and Direct Care Providers. The conference was originally scheduled for last October, but was postponed due to bad weather.

As reported on May 13th, Queen City Pride (QCP), the organization responsible for Regina's pride parade, has banned SaskParty MLAs from officially participating in any Pride week events.
SEIU-West is in the process of recruiting facilitators for our internal membership training programs. The successful applicants will excel in communication and leadership skills, and will gain valuable knowledge around their union’s practices and the greater labour movement.
