Virtual town halls (VTHs) were scheduled for the evenings of May 27 and 28 to update SEIU-West members about SAHO bargaining and answer bargaining questions. Unfortunately, the VTH on May 27 ran into major technical glitches. We apologize if you were one of the hundreds of members whose experienced this failure. We were not satisfied that the supplier of the VTH platform would be able to properly fix these problems in time, so we decided to cancel the May 28 VTH.

The SEIU-West First Nations, Métis and Inuit Committee (FNMIC) is hosting a contest to design an image for orange shirts that the committee provides yearly to members. Submit your design to enter to win a $100 Co-op gift card.

The SEIU-West Young Workers Committee is hosting a free pottery night in Saskatoon on Thursday, November 28th, 2024 at 6pm. We are looking for 15-18 members of any age to attend. This will be a great opportunity to create some art, meet union members, and discuss issues of mental health and burnout among members of the workforce.
To recognize Health Care Provider week, SEIU-West, SGEU and CUPE wrote to the Ministry of Health to have this week formally recognized. Normally the Ministry sends us a certificate of recognition, but we didn’t receive one this year. Don’t worry, we’ll follow up with the new Minister of Health.

The SEIU-West Convention will be held in Saskatoon May 2025. Delegates at that Convention will select the SEIU-West President, Treasurer, one Trustee, and at least 7 additional members of the Executive Board.
We are looking for at least three SEIU-West members who would be interested in serving on the Elections Committee.

SEIU-West Workers of Colour Multicultural Mentorship Committee (WocMMC) recently interviewed Dirk Propp, the founder of an immigration service provider in Saskatchewan, to discuss our current labour shortage and their platform for supporting workers to find jobs and for employers to find staff.
